The CIA provides the National Security Council (NSC) with information concerning national security and coordinates the intelligence activities of the government. Only a small committee in Congress can view selected expenditures of the CIA. William Colby, a former CIA director, was fired by President Ford because of disclosing too much information to Congress.

Three types of Independant Agencies: 1. Single Purpose Organizations 2. Government Corporations 3. Regulatory Independent Offices (Single Purpose Organizations) are headed by a single administrator appointed by the president. Senate Confirmation is required for removal of administrator.
