seahawks moving on - 2013
Congratulations to the following players moving on
to four-year universities!!! From the words of head coach Bill Barlow and the Seahawk coaching staff:
Oscar Caballero was one of the most prolific defenders in the South Coast Conference. Caballero stands at 6'4", which gives him the ability to beat anyone in the air. He has a great first touch and is also great on the offensive end of the game. Oscar currently holds a 3.2 GPA and will be playing at Marymount College on the next level. There is no doubt that he will soar at the next level, both athletically and academically.
Fernando Ruiz and Efrain Fombano are two players who have already signed with Marymount. Fernando is a player who never stopped working for us. His great work ethic and personality is admirable. Both of these student-athletes will definitely help Marymount in many different areas next year.
Kevin Paniagua was a strong player that helped the team a lot by playing at right and left back. Kevin understands the game so well that he is able to read the plays as they are developing. That was one of his greatest assets, along with his communication skills. Besides being a great athlete, Kevin is also an outstanding student, possessing a 3.7 GPA. Kevin will be playing soccer next fall at La Verne University.
Blessing Ngwa and Sergio Sotelo are two outstanding athletes who will be playing at Kansas Wesleyan next fall. Blessing is a very talented goalkeeper who played a pivotal role in our overall success this past season. Sergio was also a great asset for the team. He played a significant amount of games before injuring himself. Nonetheless, both student-athletes did a fantastic job in the classroom, which has allowed them to continue their soccer careers.
Juan Perez is an outstanding center back with great leadership skills. Juan has the versatility to play any position on defense. He has great speed, high vertical jump and communicates well on the field. He was one of the team captains and has a 3.6 GPA. Juan was also named All-American and will continue his soccer career next fall at Northwestern.
Eric Medina led the state with 30 goals and 12 assists, totaling 71 points, also leading state. He has great speed, ball control and vision. Eric notched 17 goals and nine assists in his freshman year (2011) and currently has a 3.3 GPA. He is a two-time All-South Coast Conference and All-American player who will be attending California State Dominguez Hills next fall.
Brian Pautasso and Jesus Fregoso have signed to play at Vanguard University next season. Brian was one of the toughest players on the team, playing defensive midfield and center back. He's great on tackles with a nice first touch. Brian really pushes the offense and can direct a team. Brian and Jesus both have 3.5 GPAs. Jesus was also a great player that contributed in many different areas of the game.
