Hello dear student, and welcome back from your winter break! I am your instructor for the semester. I know it is hard to put yourself back into school mode, but I hope you are refreshed and ready for learning. We have a lot to learn from each other. I look forward to working with you!

What, when, where
This class is the second of the three Algebra courses. You need to be competent in requisite topics as described in the college catalog. We will continue our discussion with chapter 6 and pretend we never took a break in between.
We will meet in the Northeast building, room 225 at 4:05 sharp.
Please silence your phones upon arrival; we do not want to hear your phone sing 'La Cucaracha' in the middle of an exam. Please refrain from texting. Bottom line, please come prepared for class and leave the world outside.
Psst! Need a refresher on some of the Algebra topics? Take a look at
http://www.khanacademy.org/#
and search for their Algebra topics. This is a great source of information that will cost you nothing!

Office hours
I have office hours before AND right after class. This provides you an excellent chance to come and talk to me if you need to clarify something we discussed in class, need help with your homework, or for any other issue you have in mind. Not only is your education my job, I actually like to answer your questions or concerns, it is fun! I am there for you, I am a great resource for you; use me!

Click here to obtain the syllabus we will use in the class. Information on exam dates, class policies etc. can be found there. Best of all, because you are so special, I am giving it to you for free!

Exam Solutions
I may post solutions to exams we take online, and this section is where you want to go to find them.
Etcetera
If you need help with some Algebra topics or want a second opinion on some topic we discuss in class take a look at
This organization posts videos on many academic topics, including the one you want.
You can also review Algebra material on http://www.hippocampus.org. This website has interactive content in addition to instructional material. Check it out!
Why study mathematics?
Yeah, why? Well.......often people think they have no use for the material learned in class and ask me what the point of taking mathematics is. I could go on and on about this topic but if you want a concise reason I can say 'jobs' and 'money'. Need reassurance? Look at the two links below and see how those who can play with numbers are better suited to take on good paying positions:
-Here is an MSNBC survey of best jobs in the country.
-Here is an article on the Wall Street Journal bemoaning the lack of analytic (i.e. math) skills on MBA grads
You will often see me use the following website to graph and to solve some systems of equations
Try it out! It is a real fun site to use.
This is what I do, if you want to check it out.
