how to clear a prerequisite
-
Student Services > Counseling > How to Clear a Prerequisite
- What is a prerequisite?
A prerequisite is a course that must be completed before registering for a class.
- How do I know if a class has a prerequisite?
Our registration system might tell you that you do not meet the prerequisite when you try to register for a class. You can also check the class schedule and catalog. In the class schedule, it will be written in bold within the course description.
- How do I clear a prerequisite?
You will need to show proof that you have taken this course somewhere else by providing an unofficial transcript to a Drop-In Counselor (see the drop-in counseling calendar here). If you have taken the assessment/placement test at Harbor college or any other college, you may also provide that to a drop-in counselor to clear prerequisite classes.
If you have taking an online class and need a prerequisite cleared, please e-mail your transcripts to coloche@lahc.edu.
For additional information, check the class schedule for "Prerequisite Approval." Here is the Prerequisite Approval instructions for the Spring 2012 class schedule.
