CARE/CalWORKs Adopt-A-Child
Los Angeles Harbor College CARE & CalWORKs 6th Annual Adopt-a-Child Holiday Toy Drive Program
Adopt-A-Child Donor Interest Form
The Los Angeles Harbor College Cooperative Agencies and Resources for Education (CARE) and California Work Opportunities for Kids (CalWORKs) programs are seeking individuals, businesses and organizations that are willing to participate in the program’s 6th annual adopt-a-child holiday gift giving program. The program is designed to provide gifts to children of families who otherwise might not receive a present this holiday season.
Last year, the programs assisted 90 families, with more than 100 children receiving gifts. We anticipate the need will be even more this year, as many of our families are struggling financially.
We had 38 donors last year, ranging from members of the college community to private citizens to some local community companies.
The children provide wish lists that contain both necessities, such as clothing or shoes, and toys. The list notes the child’s gender, age and size, plus the child’s favorite color and activities. The donor uses the list to select the appropriate gift for the child.
In addition to providing a gift for a child, donors also can contribute by donating gift cards/certificates or money that is given out to the families for the purchase of food, clothing, and other necessities. We do not set a dollar amount to what the donor wants to spend, and all contributions are welcomed.
If you are interested in becoming a donor for this event, please click the link at the top of the page to complete a Donor Interest Form. You will be contacted with information on how to view the wish lists from the children and/or how to make a monetary contribution.
If you wish to make a monetary donation directly, please contact Angeles Zesati at 310.233.4403.
