SPRING 2014 BOOK AWARDS
We have additional funds available for awarding book awards for spring. If you are a new student to EOPS this semester who didn't receive a book award and purchased books from the bookstore, you may be eligible to receive a refund for your purchases provided you still have the receipt. Please contact Tim in the EOPS Office for more information.
Continuing students who were eligible for a book award but weren't awarded due to the program initially running out of money and/or students who have late start classes may also be eligible for an award (please contact Tim).
FALL 2014 PRIORITY REGISTRATION
EOPS students who are fully matriculated and in good standing will be able to use priority registration for fall classes from May 7 through May 11.
Please keep in mind that the new rules enacted by the state mandate that students have completed orientation, assessment, and basic educational planning, along with maintaining satisfactory academic progress, in order to receive priority registration.
The primary means of communication between Harbor College (including the EOPS/CARE program) and students is via your student email account. Please make sure that you are checking this email account on a regular basis so you don't miss important information.

EOPS CONTACT AVAILABILITY
State budget reductions have severely limited the amount of counseling hours that we can make available to students each semester. This, in turn, has affected the availability of open appointment slots with counselors throughout the semester as they tend to fill up quickly. We understand this creates a burden on students as they attempt to juggle busy schedules and still meet their mandated contact requirements for the EOPS program.
We make every effort to offer enough appointments for all students. This means that we have to offer some appointments as group sessions. These group sessions do count as contacts for the semester.
If you attempt to schedule an appointment and are told that there are no available openings, please continue to check back with us on a regular basis as we will eventually make new appointments available.
Also, in an effort to offer as many appointments as possible, we have implemented a new policy: if you are late for your scheduled appointment one of two things may happen, either you may forfeit that appointment to a waiting student, or we may inform you that your appointment is being converted to a drop-in appointment and it won't count as one of your contacts for the semester.
