What are the benefits of being in the Honors Transfer Program?

 

The benefits of being in the Honors Transfer Program include the following: 
  1. Priority admission is granted by UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, Azusa Pacific University, Occidental College, Pitzer College, Pomona College, Chapman University, Whitman College, Loyola Marymount University, La Sierra University, and Mills College. Honors to Honors admission is granted by various colleges and universities. Please view the following website for specific details: www.honorstcc.org/transfer/agreements.html
  2. Honors designated courses, easy registration for honors courses and specialized academic counseling
  3. Honors to Honors admission to CSULB, CSU Fullerton, San Diego State University, La Sierra University, Chapman University, CSU Pomona, UCLA, UCI, UC Riverside, and UC Davis
  4. Honors notation on college transcript
  5. Honors designated scholarships ranging from $200-$5,000.
  6. UCLA library card, field trips, research conference and cultural and educational events.
How do I qualify to enter the Honors Transfer Program?

 

Admission to the Honors Transfer Program is based upon placement in college English 101 and one of the following:
  1.  Eligibility to enter the University of California school based upon high school courses completed and SAT/ACT scores or
  2. A high school grade point average of 3.5 or above who and recommended from their high school counselor or
  3. A college grade point average of 3.0 in 15 UC transferable units.

Please meet with the honors counselor for a personal evaluation.

What does it mean to be honors certified?

 

Certification means that honor students must complete all requirements established by their community college Honors Transfer Program. Partner colleges and universities request certification from the honors counselor that students have completed all requirements of the program to gain priority admission.

How do I sign-up for the Honors Transfer Program?

 

Contact the Counseling Center to schedule an appointment with the Honors Counselor.The counselor will evaluate your eligibility for the program based upon your high school transcripts, and college assessment results.Students already attending college must provide college transcript(s) and English placement results.

What is required of students to participate in the Honors Transfer Program?

 

Honors Transfer Program students must complete 6 honors courses, complete IGETC or breadth requirements and all preparation for a major field of study, enroll in Library Science 101 in their first semester of college,attend all required program meetings, and participate in at least one form of campus or community service such as:
  1. Involvement in a mentorship project
  2. Involvement in the Honors Transfer Club (HTP) or another campus club or organization
  3. Involvement in recruiting other students for the Honors Transfer Program
  4. Service Learning/tutoring
  5. Off campus community service
What are the requirements for completing the Honors Transfer Program?

 

Honor students must complete 6 honors courses, IGETC or breadth requirements and required preparation for a major field of study. All students will also be required to participate in at least one form of campus or community involvement.
