Scholarship Scam Alert
There are many businesses who would like to sell you the opportunity for them to search for scholarships for you. They promise to locate several sources of scholarships you qualify for. Be alert and be aware, we discourage paying anyone to search for scholarships on your behalf. Here are the scholarship
SCAM WARNING SIGNS:
> Fee's. Financial aid should never cost you. They should never ask you to pay a "finders fee" or "search fee." Scammers may also use the term "donation". They may ask you to donate to their fund in order to get your credit card information. Never invest anything beyond the cost of a postage stamp.
> Personal Information If they ask you to provide personal information such as bank accounts, credit card info, or social security information, this is a scam. Do not give any personal information out. Scammers use this ploy to get your financial information and then drain your account or run up charges on your credit card.
> The "Money-back Guarantee" - especially if the company tries to guarantee that you will win an award.
Please look out for these warning signs before you proceed to apply for a scholarships.

Accounting students can apply for a $10,000 Leadership Award to be presented by Deloitte
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has partnered with Deloitte LLP to offer the Jorge Caballero Student Leadership Award of $10,000 for accounting majors who demonstrate leadership qualities through academics and community involvement. As part of the leadership award, applicants will also be considered for a paid internship with Deloitte. The Awardee will receive a scholarship to attend HACU’s Annual Conference where they will be recognized with the award. Deadline to apply is Aug. 21. More
Apply for a fall internship through the HACU National Internship Program
The deadline for students to apply for a fall internship through the HACU National Internship Program is July 8. Fall interns will work with a federal agency from Aug. 25 to Dec. 10. Additional information here.

HACU members have until Sept. 2 to apply for the $10,000 HACU/Solution Generation Climate Leadership Award. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship makes it possible for the nation’s top community college students to complete their bachelor’s degrees by transferring to a selective four-year college or university. The Foundation provides up to $40,000 per year to each of approximately 85 deserving students selected annually, making it the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country.
The Cooke Foundation is looking for students who are currently at a community college with sophomore status by December 31st, 2016 , students must have a 3.5 to 4.0 GPA, must demonstrate significant unmet financial need, plan to enroll full time in a baccalaureate program at an accredited college or university and has not been previously enrolled in a 4 year university.

Citrix ShareFile Scholarship
Citrix ShareFile will award $10,000 in scholarship awards to the top three students who submit the best essays. Finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges, including ShareFile founder Jesse Lipson.

Headphone selection will award a $500 scholarship to a new applicant annually and must be used towards the cost of your education. Migrant Farmworker Baccalaureate Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to a deserving student with a history of migrating for employment in agriculture who has successfully completed one year of college. This scholarship is designed to assist in obtaining a degree without being encumbered with substantial debt.
